Dazed and Confused (1993) was filmed all throughout Austin, Texas, the city where the film actually takes place. A lot of these film locations I was able to go to, but most which are completely different.
Starting off at the burger place, located at 7525 Burnet Road, the teenagers spent some time partying here, like they did in the majority of the film. There weren't a lot of major changes here though, other than simply the removal of certain small aspects. At the real-life location, Top Notch, the front wall of the restaurant is covered in signs advertising the place itself. In the movie, it was a completely blank brick wall, as shown in the mirrored shot.

I also don't think there were picnic tables in the movie, or they at least were not shown at all. Most of the people were just hanging out on top of and around their cars.

The pool hall the characters went to is not too far away either, but after re-researching it, I discovered I went to the completely wrong place! The Poodle Dog Lounge, which is now the Aristocrat Lounge and is better known as "Emporium" in the film, is located at 6507 Burnet Road. I went to this location to take photographs, thinking that it was the location of the iconic backdrop (shown two photographs below,) but actually this building was used solely for the interior shots!
The Emporium exterior is actually shot at what, at the time of filming, was a strip mall called Violet Crown Shopping Center. Today, it is a barbecue place called Stiles Switch.

The Aristocrat Lounge, where the interior shots were filmed.

Another location is the Moonlight Tower in the film but unfortunately it is no longer in existence. The park where it was however, still does!

Dazed and Confused is a unique film, similar to Breaking Bad, in which it is filmed where it actually takes place. It was really cool to be able to travel throughout the city of Austin, which is now one of my absolute favorite American cities, and feel like I was experiencing the movie itself.
