Terms of Endearment (1983) had several film spots throughout the city of Houston, but the houses are of course not only the most recognizable, but also the most accessible.
As written about in my article about Neighbors, it is very difficult to be able to find two houses directly next to each other with owners who are willing to rent them out for filming. Due to this fact, it is very impressive on the film team's part, especially for the time period in which it was filmed .
Another location from the film includes Brennan's Restaurant at 3300 Smith Street, where Aurora and Garret have a lunch date. In real life, it is actually a fairly nice restaurant and neither my dad nor I were in appropriate attire to go in, so naturally we just kind of drove by to see it.

The character Aurora Greenway (Shirley MacLaine) lived in the beautiful green-covered brick home in the film, located at 3060 Locke Lane.

A white picket fence surrounded the front base of Aurora's home in the film.

Right next door is home to retired astronaut Garrett Breedlove (Jack Nicholson) located at 3068 Locke Lane. Since filming, however, the home has been almost completely remodeled.
One of the biggest differences includes the fence between the houses. In Terms of Endearment it is the stereotypical white picket fence; however, now it has become a simple brown wood rectangular fence.

A basketball hoop was also added between the houses, as well as some additional shrubs and small plants.

We had planned on visiting Houston for just a few minutes for the sole purpose of getting these few photographs, but we ended up being completely distracted by the homes in the surrounding neighborhoods. Nearly every single one was drop-dead gorgeous and incredibly expensive.
As odd as it sounds, I highly recommend going on a field trip to admire the homes in Houston if you are ever in the city. They're amazing!
