Second Line Stages: 21 Jump Street

Second Line Stages is the main studio used in New Orleans, but there is a beat up wall near the main building that was used in the movie 21 Jump Street.
Unfortunately, it was raining on the day of my visit so photographs were not as great as I had hoped for.

In the scene in which it appears, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are intentionally running each other over with a car to practice for the worst case scenario in their job as police officers. This location is in a fairly run-down part of town, and to make the wall look a little more fit for the humor of the movie, the words “GOO MARKET” were spray painted on the left side. The mundane version had a lot more variation of color and “decay,” but for the movie the wall was painted to be pretty much a single grey color with two large black rectangular blotches. This was the type of location that had that “wait this was a film set?” shock factor. In fact, the directors actually decided to film this scene out of impulsivity and curiousity, and it ended up making the cut for the full-length film.
